Gangster
Squad Sean Penn, Ryan Go... etc..
The
American magazine Time
has
listed twenty English-language films to be released
in 2013 that we should not miss. From
sci-fi (Star Trek into Darkness "and" Oblivion ") until filmed
novels (" The Great Gatsby "and" Oz: The Great and Powerful
"), in 2013 there will be something for everyone to see in the cinema .
An overview:
'Gangster Squad' (January
9)
The cast of
the crime film is impressive. Josh
Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Emma Stone and Sean Penn telling the story
of the LAPD in the forties the mafiosi from Los Angeles trying to ward. The
shooting in Aurora (Colorado) has ensured that the release date of 'Gangster
Squad' was
delayed.
The
film indeed contained
a scene where a shootout takes place in
a movie theater and had to be cut from the film.
'Warm Bodies' (27
March)
It
sounds absurd: a romantic teen movie where zombies play a major role, but if
anyone can make it a good film, it's director Jonathan Levine ('50 / 50 ')..
'A Good Day to Die Hard' (13
February)
Forget
the ridiculous title, the New York cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) is back. In
the fifth 'Die Hard' McClane is
traveling
to Russia to rescue his
son Jack (Jai Courtney) . "Live
Free or Die Hard" (2007) was too ridiculous for words (although the film
made more than 291 million profit made),
but it is expected that the fifth film looks
more like the
original from 1998..
'Stoker' (1
May)
Director
Chan-wook Park is known for its South Korean blockbusters "Oldboy"
and "Joint Security Area". His
English debut is a thriller in which Mia Wasikowska in love with her uncle goes
live with her
unstable mother (Nicole Kidman). Kidman
plays the emotionally unstable mother in
a very realistic way.
'Oz: The Great and Powerful' (13
March)
"Oz" is spicy. James
France, the young wizard in the "Wizard of Oz'-prequel, which the story
is told of a magician who falls in love Flinda (Michelle Williams). The
two fight together against evil witches Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Theodora
(Mila Kunis). The
film was directed by Sam Raimi and seems to become
magic.
'Carrie' (13
November)
Brian
De Palma's film from 1976 which Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie Oscar
Nominations was
very well received,
but this remake of 'Carrie' with Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore as a
mother-daughter team from 'Boys Do Cry' director Kimberly Peirce seems to
be worth
it to .
'A Place Beyond the Pines' (27
March)
The
movie had
a great
welcome at the Toronto Film Festival and was even compared to 'The Godfather'.
Ryan
Gosling plays the professional motorcyclist who finds out Luke
has
a son with an ex-girlfriend. To
be able to support his child financially, he rob banks. Bradley
Cooper is the young cop Avery Cross in collision with Luke. With
implications
into the adult lives of their sons.
'Oblivion' ."
(April 10)
Tom
Cruise plays a lonely robot repairman in this
movie
written and directed by Joseph Kosinksi ('Tron: Legacy'). The
post-apocalyptic film shows beautiful images of our planet that has perished
after years of nuclear war and Morgan Freeman is perfectly cast as the leader
of a group of survivors.
'Iron Man 3' ((1
May)
The
success of "The Dark Knight Rises" shows we love quirky superheroes.
Iron
Man is the last crusader who must believe it. Robert
Downey Jr.. can't
wait after 'The Avengers' and is in this film opposed
to Ben Kingsley, who plays the villain
Madarin.
'The Great Gatsby' (15
May)
Leonardo
Di Caprio is the
tormented
Jay Gatsby, a wealthy and mysterious man who organized almost
daily decadent parties . Tobey
Maguire is the outsider Nick Carraway and Carey Mulligan is Daisy, an old love
of Gatsby. The
adaptation of this
masterpiece of F. Scott
Fitzgerald by Baz Luhrmann has
music provided by none other than Jay-Z.
'Star Trek Into Darkness' ("(5
June)
In the sequel to JJ Abrams'
'Star Trek' from 2009 returns back Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as
Spock, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty and John Cho as Sulu. Benedict
Cumberbatch has announced that he will play a terrorist. That
will
be an explosive action movie, sure.
'Man of Steel' (19
June)
Director
Zack Snyder has reportedly worked closely with producer Christopher Nolan
on
Superman to reinvent this blockbuster. Also
David Goyer, another Dark Knight' veteran, worked on the movie, so it is
generally expected that the film will
be dark
and ominous. Henry
Cavill plays Superman, Kevin Coster and Diane Lane play the Kents, Russell
Cowe's father, Michael Shannon is General Zod and Amy Adams Lois Lane.
'World War Z' (July
3)
Even more zombies! Brad
Pitt takes part in the adaptation of the book "World War Z: An Oral
History of the Zombie War (Max Brooks, 2009).
'Monsters University' (10 July)
"Monsters
University" is the first ever for Pixar prequel. In
this
animation Sully (John Goodman) and Michael (Billy Crystal) go
to
college and try to get in at Monsters Inc...
'The Lone Ranger' (July
3)
Johnny
Depp, who received an Oscar nomination for his role as Jack Sparrow in
"Pirates of the Caribbean ', working again with director Gore Verbinski
and play Tonto. Armie
Hammer, the Winklevoss twins in "The Social Network" plays
the masked hero.
'Pacific Rim' (July
17)
Guillermo
del Toro hasn't
directed any movie
since "Hellboy II" in 2008,, but 'Pacific Rim' may be the film that will
let us see the
cult director as
an action hero movie maker.
Originally,
Tom Cruise joined,
but was replaced by Idris Elba. In
the sci-fi action film hve giant robots controlled by humans protect the Earth
from an alien invasion coming
from the Pacific Ocean..
'Elysium' (13
March)
The
sequel to 'District 9' takes place in 2159, when the rich people live on a
space station and the rest on an overpopulated Earth . Matt
Damon plays a man who wants to bring back
peace between the
polarized worlds.
'The World's End' 25
September)
Simon
Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman and Rosamun Pike try to surpass their
epic pub crawl of twenty years earlier
and
unwittingly save the
only hope for survival of mankind. Fans
of "Hot Fuzz" and "Shaun of the Dead 'starts
drooling. A
trailer has not yet been released.
'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' (27
November)
The
film stars Jennifer Lawrence was one of the new stars of 2012 with 'The Hunger
Games' and' Silver Linings Playbook 'and of course she does it again in the
second part of the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' trilogy. 'Catching
Fire' is directed by Francis Lawrence and Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jeffrey
Wright are some familiar names participating.
'Anchorman: The Legend Continues' (release
date unknown)
Probably,
this movie will
not be shown in
Belgium in 2013, but in the U.S. on
Time's list
he was just on the 20th
place. Another
star wardrobe for this 'Anchorman': Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd,
Christina Applegate and Kristen Wiig participate. The
film about
an
editorialnewspaper from
San Diego follow the actors
while trying to keep in a changing media landscape. Much
more is not
yet known about the film, but producer
Judd Apatow announced it will
be a hilarious
movie.
