NEW YORK, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Ford Models, the world's leading fashion, talent and innovative digital media company, announced today that Stone Tower Equity Partners has made a strategic, long-term investment in the company. This new partnership provides Ford Models with significant financial resources to accelerate its global expansion. Terms of the investment were not disclosed.
Ford Models operates an extensive global network of offices and has more experienced talent managers, significant advertising campaigns, and global scouts than any fashion talent firm in the world. This platform allows the company to meet all the talent needs of its clients globally and has propelled the company and its talent to experience significant growth in recent years.
Katie Ford said, "My family and I are thrilled with the opportunity this investment will provide for Ford's talent, our employees and clients. We have built Ford Models from my parents' living room to a global fashion talent, media and marketing company, and this investment will help us continue to grow."
The agency also announced that effective Nov. 30, John Caplan, Ford's President, became Ford Models' Chief Executive Officer. Since joining in 2002, Mr. Caplan's novel approach to managing talent careers has increased talent earnings and created new branding opportunities for the company and its talent. He has led a number of strategic acquisitions, negotiated several important talent contracts, and is the creator of Fordmodels.tv, Ford's digital media business. Previously, Mr. Caplan was President of the About.com Network, now owned by The New York Times Company.
"John's vision and his commitment to building the brands of our talent and careers of our staff, along with his background in media and marketing has enabled Ford to expand our business in innovative new ways that we could not have even contemplated just a few years ago," Ms. Ford said.
Mr. Caplan added: "Ford Models is the standard for innovation in a dynamic industry pioneered by Eileen and Jerry Ford. Today, our talent and staff are uniquely positioned to benefit from the convergence of new media, brand marketing and global advertising. Ford Models will continue to set the pace in this industry for years to come."
The founding Ford family continues to be significant company shareholders. Ms. Ford will remain on the Board of Directors, working on the strategic direction of the company and identifying global opportunities for Ford Models.
